Hockey

Hockey injuries often involve the lower limb and often require biomechanical assessment. The hockey playing surface can put strain on knees and ankles. Exercise to address muscle tightness and weakness can form the backbone of effective rehabilitation and sometimes foot biomechanics may need to be assessed and treated by a specialist podiatrist. In addition direct blows by the stick or ball can lead to injury in many areas.

Our team includes physiotherapists experienced in the treating this type of injury and our podiatry service is also available. Dr Roger Hawkes has toured in South Africa with the Midland Junior Hockey team and is interested in injury prevention and management of younger players. His son, Sam, is captain of a Belper HC, a National League hockey team.
