MB ChB DRCOG Dip. Sports Med. FFSEM (UK&Ire) (Sports Physician) has worked in the West Midlands for over 20 years. In the early 90s he was the medical officer for Tamworth Football Club for 3 years, and has been worked for the PGA European Tour for 15 years. In 2007 he was appointed as their Chief Medical Officer. He was the European Ryder Cup Team Doctor in Valhalla. He also runs the Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine NHS Services for South Staffordshire PCT and works for the tri-service rehabilitation system for Wales and the West Midlands.
Dr Mark Gillett Dr Mark Gillett
BSc(Hons) MSc(SEM) FRCS(A&E) FFEM FFSEM (UK&Ire) Dip IMC(RCS Ed) holds a Masters degree in Sports Medicine and has been the lead Physician at the English Institute of Sport in the West Midlands, and was the Chief Medical Officer to the GB team at the last two World University Games. He is a member of the British Olympic Medical Committee, and a member of the Football Association Medical Committee. He is currently the Chief Medical Officer to the GB basketball team, and is a club Doctor at Chelsea Football Club.

MB BCh DRCOG MSc DMSMed MLCOM FFSEM(Ire) (Sports Physician) has worked as a specialist in Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham (1999-2008) where he developed an interest in spinal pain and sciatica. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for the University of Birmingham. More recently he has worked with elite athletes for the English Institute of Sport at the Birmingham High Performance Centre before being appointed Midlands medical officer for UK Athletics.

MSc BSc (Hons) MCSP HPC ACPSM holds a Masters degree in Physiotherapy and has been a Chartered Physiotherapist for 14 years. His experience includes seven years in private healthcare and several years working in professional football, initially with Manchester United Football Clubs Academy, and more recently as Head of Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine for Preston North End and Derby County Football Club. Currently Andrew is Head Physiotherapist at Nottingham Forest Football Club. His areas of special interest include soft tissue rehabilitation and injury prevention.
Paula Deacon Paula Deacon
BSc (Hons) MCSP SRP HPC qualified in 1996 from Bristol University and has specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy for the past 10 years. Since 2004 Paula has been an extended scope practitioner at the Samuel Johnson Hospital in Lichfield. In addition she also works on the PGA Seniors European Golf Tour. Although Paula is a clinical specialist in spinal disorders her special interests also include sports injuries, biomechanics and movement dysfunction.
Erica Parker Erica Parker
BSc MCSP SRP HPC has practised as a Chartered Physiotherapist in primary care for over 20 years, assessing and treating both spinal and peripheral musculoskeletal conditions. She has completed Masters modules in Extended Scope Physiotherapy and Injection therapy and now teaches part of this module at Coventry University. She has a special interest in low back pain in both acute and chronic presentations.
Helen Buchanan Helen Buchanan
BSc (Hons) MCSP SRP HPC RAMC has worked for the army since 2002 where she is a Physiotherapy Officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps. Helen commands the rehabilitation unit at Whittington Barracks in Lichfield where injured military personnel attend for intensive residential rehabilitation. In addition to her Physiotherapy degree she has a BSc (Hons) in Exercise Physiology and is currently undertaking an MSc in Sports Medicine.
Emma Rowe Emma Rowe
BSc (Hons) MCSP SRP HPC AACP has been qualified as a State Registered and Chartered Physiotherapist for 7 years. After spending 3 years working within the NHS, she has spent the last 4 years working in private physiotherapy. Emma is experienced in treating all manner of musculoskeletal disorders. She has a special interest in hydrotherapy, and is a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. She has a keen interest in sports injury rehabilitation.

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy MCSP AACP has worked as a physiotherapist in the West Midlands since graduating from the University of Birmingham in 2001. Previously he worked in the NHS at the University Hospital Birmingham and Royal Orthopaedic Hospital where specialised in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal medicine. He currently works with the Ministry of Defence as a specialist rehabilitation physiotherapist providing care for injured service personnel. This role also includes working closely with Sports Physicians in gateway assessment clinics treating military patients with complex musculoskeletal injuries.
Paul Godfrey Paul Godfrey
MSc Grad Dip Manip Ther MMACP MCSP graduated from St Mary's Hospital, London in 1992 and has worked at the English Institute of Sport where he treated, and devised and implemented rehabilitation programmes for elite athletes within the UK Athletics support programme. He has considerable experience of working within a multi disciplinary team of clinicians, and has a special interest in acute sports injuries. He is currently Head Physiotherapist at Notts County FC.

ACIB (Managing Partner) holds a banking qualification, having worked for Barclays for over 30 years. He was Group Sales and Marketing Director for Barclays Asset Finance before retiring. He is a non Executive Director of Stonham Housing the leading Supported Housing provider in the UK, and a member of the Home Group Audit Committee. He played rugby at international level, and still plays competitive team tennis.

MB, BS, MS, FRCS(Eng), MCh (Orth) Trained in Liverpool and North Wales, Mr Kathuria has been a Consultant in trauma and orthopaedics since 1994, with a special interest in shoulder surgery. He has been College Tutor with the Royal College of Surgeons, and a Clinical Director for orthopaedics for 5 years until 2007. He specialises in arthroscopic, reconstructive and replacement surgery on shoulders. Working within strict protocols, he has close working with the physiotherapists and with primary care. Vinod was instrumental in developing the Shoulder Service at Stafford and Cannock General Hospitals, and also works at Rowley Hall and Little Aston Private Hospitals.

MD FRCP After qualifying from Liverpool University he worked in the North West before moving to Haywood Hospital in Stoke on Trent, and then on to Senior Registrar training at the Queen Elizabeth, City and Selly Oak Hospitals in Birmingham. He was appointed to Cannock Chase Hospital in 1992 as Consultant Rheumatologist. He has a particular interest in connective tissue diseases, particularly Scleroderma and Raynaud's syndrome, and the treatment of rheumatoid diseases in general. He is also Director of the Clinical Trials Unit at Cannock, and Clinical Lead for Research and Development at Mid Staffs NHS Trust.

BSc(Hons) FCPodS DPodM. Mark has worked in Staffordshire for 25 years. He has been involved with sports medicine since graduation and was part of the junior British Olympic screening programme in the 90's. He lectures nationally and internationally and holds visiting lecture posts at Staffordshire University and the University of Malta. He regularly lectures at the British Association of Sports & Exercise Medicine courses. He is also a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon, qualified acupuncturist and inventor of the Dynastat (a unique foot assessment system). Apart from his surgical experience Mark has a range of skills in Biomechanics and Orthosis production.

DCR(R) MSc Medical Ultrasound is a specialist in medical ultrasound for the diagnosis of musculoskeletal disease and injury. She has worked in the NHS for 20 years and now holds a combined post as a Consultant Sonographer and Research fellow at Keele University. She is also involved in research studies using diagnostic ultrasound at Keele, and clinically in Rheumatology and Orthopaedics at two local NHS Trusts. Alison has worked closely with a number of Sports Physicians, Orthopaedic Surgeons and Rheumatologists providing a diagnostic scanning service, and is a regular speaker and trainer at national and international conferences.

DO. BSc(Hons) Ost Med BA Registered Osteopath. Poora qualified in 2000 from the John Wernham College of Classical Osteopathy in Epsom, and has practised in Birmingham at the University Medical Centre and at the Sohal Dental and Osteopathy clinic for 9 years. He has a keen interest in the osteopathic management of sports injuries, and biomechanical assessment and development for the prevention of injuries. He works on the PGA European Tour, with Birmingham City FC and with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

BSc Nina has worked in fitness for over 7 years. She studied sports science at Chester University College and after graduating she qualified as a personal fitness trainer and undertook an advanced diploma in sports and remedial therapy. She is an enthusiastic sports woman having played tennis and hockey at county level. She currently plays 1st team tennis for Four Oaks and is a member of Aldridge running club.

BSc (Hons) is a qualified fitness instructor, a sports masseur and a specialist rehabilitation and strength and conditioning coach who also played professional rugby union for a number of years. After his degree at Leeds Carnegie and a spell as a physical education officer in the RAF, he attended the CHEK Institute in San Diego, California where he completed a course in corrective exercise. He now works with private clients as a personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist.

Belinda Gooderam has worked in dental practices for a number of years and is very involved in local hockey through her association with Cannock Hockey Club, and through her husband and two sons who all play hockey at a high level. She has joined us to provide cover for our evening clinics, and as back up to Jackie.
