Neck Injuries

Serious neck injury has to be suspected with violent trauma. Patients are usually taken to casualty on a spinal board to safeguard against spinal cord injury. Less serious neck injuries can be persistent but respond to an array of treatments including physiotherapy and osteopathy.

Acute injuries such as “Whiplash” can benefit from careful assessment and management to reduce the chance of the problem becoming chronic in nature.

Neck pain where no trauma is involved is a very common condition, often chronic in nature with intermittent “flare ups”. Much can be done to help to control the symptoms and then to manage the condition more effectively using techniques such as strengthening and stretching exercise and postural correction.
