Local doctor Roger Hawkes has been appointed team doctor to the European Ryder Cup team who will be defending the cup in Kentucky later this month. Doctor Hawkes who is the Chief Medical Officer to the European Golf Tour travels out with the team on their specially chartered plane.
“This is the first time the Ryder Cup management have taken a team doctor so I am delighted to have been appointed” said Doctor Hawkes. “After being involved with the European Golf Tour for a number of years I have a high regard for the professionalism of the players, and I hope they can pull off another famous victory under captain Nick Faldo”.
Doctor Hawkes who lives in Tamworth is a specialist sports medicine physician, and a partner in Sports Medicine Partners who are opening sports injury clinics at Bannatynes Health Club in Sutton Coldfield, and at Lombard Street, Lichfield over the next two months.
